Golfers compete at SCC tournaments

The South Border girls and boys finished second and third, respectively, Thursday at the South Central Conference golf meets in Linton.

Host Linton claimed the SCC girls team crown with 452 strokes, followed by South Border (458), Edgeley-Kulm (470) and Napoleon (481).

Amber Piatz of Napoleon carded a 95 to win individual medalist honors. Hailey Dockter of Linton (106) was runner-up, then came Kara Lepp, South Border, 108; Alicia Weisser, South Border, 109; Brittany Diegel, Edgeley-Kulm, 110; Megan Carr, Linton, 110; Rebecca Buchholz, 111; Becca Andres, Edgeley-Kulm, 113; Margaret Burke, Linton, 113; and Sarah Schlepp, South Border, 116.

Bea Fischer (125), Ali Lehr (129) and Anna Cruz (143) also competed for the Mustang girls.

Napoleon took home the team title in the boys division with a composite score of 352. The Imperials were followed by Edgeley-Kulm (378), South Border (380), Central Prairie (422) and Linton (440).

Nate Kleppe of Napoleon edged teammate Brady Fettig for medalist honors, after both shot an 85. They were followed by Alex Dais, Edgeley-Kulm, 88; Donovan Gross, Napoleon, 89; Taylor Erickson, Edgeley-Kulm, 90; Cody Lippert, South Border, 90; Brett Williams, Central Prairie, 92; Morgan Schwartzenberger, Napoleon, 93; Mike Wishek, South Border, 94; and Isaac Lehr, South Border, 94.

Rounding out the effort for the Mustang boys were Evan Martell, 102; Tallon Lippert, 105; and Ethan Helfenstein (106).
